With just over three months to a new season, preparations are in full swing at SES, which is working hard to exchange DM silver from 2021 for gold.
- It is a great gift, and a new example of a significant South Jutland support, when a large and reputable company like Jørgen Hansen Biler A / S goes directly in and supports our professional team, says director Jacob Olsen from SES and Vojens Speedway Center.
- We want to support young athletes when we can feel that they are passionate about their sport. In my eyes, they should would something, says owner Jørgen Hansen, who also sponsors Ribe Esbjerg HH in handball and SønderjyskE ice hockey.
But speedway has always had a special place in Jørgen Hansen's heart.
- During my school days, we had a visit from Ole Olsen who gave lectures and handed out cassette tapes with "Speedway is my life", and it piqued my interest, but I did not really have time to practice the sport myself, says Jørgen Hansen, who has maintained his motorsport interest, ranging from speedway to Formula 1.
Jørgen Hansen took over the company after his father in 1990, and has since built a large and informal car house in Skærbæk. In recent years, Jørgen Hansen Biler A / S has been Denmark's best-selling Kia dealer.
Jørgen Hansen has also been the prime mover for the impressive Marsk Camp by the Wadden Sea, where there is a motorhome pitch, an experience center with a restaurant, and the already world-famous Marsk Tower, designed by Bjarke Ingels.
- Yes, the tower has had 56,000 visitors in the first half year, and gets a lot of attention from all over the globe. It's great for our area, says Jørgen Hansen, who is now also looking forward to taking customers to speedway in the coming season.
SES - Sønderjylland Elite Speedway opens with a regular showdown at Vojens Speedway Center, Wednesday 20 April, where the reigning Danish champions from Holsted Tigers - led by Nicki Pedersen - come to visit.
