When Vojens Speedway Center dries out in the Danish Metal Speedway League next spring, it will feature two international top drivers in the leading roles. The tdl. team world champion and grand prix winner Hans Andersen becomes team captain, while grand prix hoped Anders Thomsen becomes A-driver.
The two strong Fynbo residents form the foundation, together with three of Danish speedways most obvious talents. There are southern Jutland Mads Hansen and Jonas Knudsen, as well as Funen Marcus Birkemose.
The preliminary squad will be supplemented by a handful of new names in the coming months.
& #8211; We have several drivers in play and will have regular meetings at the Vojens Speedway Center from October, says Helge Frimodt Pedersen from speed1way.
The important position as team leader for the upcoming league team is occupied by 59-year-old Ib Pedersen. The charismatic West Jew returns to the highest level after a Sabbath year, due to a death in the immediate family.
& #8211; I couldn't say no to this opportunity to start something new. I have received inquiries from several clubs, but at an informal meeting with Jacob Olsen and Helge Frimodt Pedersen, we each had a wish list of drivers in my pocket. Oddly enough, there were so many coincidences that from that moment I had no doubt that I would like to lead the new league team for Vojens, says Ib Pedersen.
Ib Pedersen is one of the country's most successful team leaders. He became Danish champion with Holstebro in 1997 and with Esbjerg in 2012 and 2013. In total, he has made 13 medals over 22 years.
