29/09/2021

The puzzle of next year's squads for the Metal Speedway League is in full swing. This year's silver winners from SES Sønderjylland Elite Speedway have now named most places, which means that veteran Hans Andersen will be replaced by the Funen great talent Benjamin Basso.

The double Danish champion and grand prix driver Anders Thomsen will take over the role of team captain when SES in 2022 will try to exchange DM silver for gold.

The profiles Nicolai Klindt and German Kai Huckenbeck will also be on the team in the coming season, while the management at SES is betting youthfully on the other places.

Sønderjyske Mads Hansen, who on Friday night is fighting for individual U21 WC gold, continues together the brothers Jesper and Jonas Knudsen.

They are now joined by 20-year-old Benjamin Basso, who has had his speedway upbringing in Vissenbjerg Bred og Fjelsted. Basso became YGT - world champion back in 2016, and debuted at 500 cc in 2018.

- We are just missing a few pieces before the final squad for 2022 is in place, but we expect to be able to announce this within a few weeks, says Jacob Olsen who is director of Speed1Way, which is behind SES - Sønderjylland Elite Speedway and Vojens Speedway Center.
