The Danish European champion in speedway Mikkel Michelsen - who turns 27 on Thursday - will receive a welcome birthday present from World Cup organizer BSI / IMG. Michelsen has been awarded a wildcard for this year's Danish WC Grand Prix at Vojens Speedway Center, Saturday 11 September.

By virtue of his European Championship, Mikkel Michelsen is already qualified for the World Cup series in 2022.

Michelsen was also European champion in 2019, but, last year, did not get much out of participating in a corona-affected World Cup season.

Now a new opportunity and a dress rehearsal against the best in the world awaits in September.

The two track reserves will be U21 drivers Mads Hansen from SES - Sønderjylland Elite Speedway, and Michelsen's teammate from North Zealand Slangerup, Jonas Seifert.
