With a 2nd place in the very last heat, Anders Thomsen ensured that SES - Sønderjylland Elite Speedway could breathe a sigh of relief and win 43-41 at home over Region Varde Elitesport.
Mads Hansen was again the top scorer for SES

The match between the SpeedwayLiga's current number two and three, was exactly as exciting as many had expected. For long periods, SES had the long leg in front, but strong driving by especially Varde's Finnish Timo Läthi created top tension in the end.
After heat 11, the southern Jews led 38-28, but in the subsequent heat Anders Thomsen was ruled out for hitting the starting tape, and then it went downhill for the home team. With a 1-5 in heat 13, Region Varde suddenly saw the opportunity to snatch a surprising draw, but it thwarted Anders Thomsen with a nice overhaul and 2nd place in the last heat.
With this, something of a bang is planned for next week, where the return match will be run at Varde Motor Arena, and where the so-called match bonus point for the overall position will largely come into play.
