The world-renowned brand ECCO Sko A / S is partnering with the Vojens Speedway Center around the Danish World Cup Grandprix on Saturday, September 7. The official name of one of the biggest sporting events of the year on Danish soil will be: 2019 Danish FIM Speedway Grand Prix - sponsored by ECCO.
Efforts to rebuild the legendary speedway plant, which Ole Olsen handed over to his son Jacob six months ago, are now receiving support from the southern Jutland company ECCO Sko A / S.
- We can feel the great commitment and clear visions that Jacob Olsen and his staff are putting in bringing Vojens back on the sport's international map. Their initiative is reminiscent of our own ambition to maintain ECCO in the global arena, says Vivi Okholm, sponsor & event manager at ECCO Sko A / S, which is headquartered in Bredebro.
Founded in 1963, ECCO has previously been a partner around international top-speedway in Vojens, and the company was also a sponsor of large profiles such as Hans Nielsen and Tommy Knudsen.
- We see it as a blow to the blue that a worldwide company and brand like ECCO joins as a partner. It is an underline of Vojens Speedway Center's upcoming position as the country's national speedway arena. It is a collaboration that will resonate across the globe, says director Jacob Olsen, referring to the fact that the Danish World Cup section will be broadcast on 122 countries.
- It will be a boost, not only for Danish speedway, but for Danish sports in general. Fans from e.g. The US and Australia already know ECCO and they will link the name with a major sporting event on Danish soil, says Jacob Olsen.
The Danish section of the Grandprix series on the individual world championship in speedway was run in Vojens from 1995 to 2002. After that it was run in the Park in Copenhagen and at the CASA Arena in Horsens.
