When the new Danish speedway team participates in the Metal Speedway League from 2020, it will be under the name SES - Southern Jutland Elite Speedway. The team, with Hans Andersen as captain, who has a home ground at Vojens Speedway Center, will represent not only Vojens, but the whole region of Southern Jutland.
South Jutland has Holsted, while the western Jutlanders have Esbjerg, Grindsted and Region Varde. Funen has the reigning champions from Fjelsted, while Zealand has Slangerup. This is what the Danish speedway landscape looked like in 2019, when the talk was about the gloom in the Metal Speedway League.
With the new team in the tournament, the country's top league is now adding a new region. For although SES - Southern Jutland Elite Speedway gets home ground at Vojens Speedway Center, the team seeks to be the locomotive of a new fan culture and talent development that benefits the entire region.
- Yes, SES - Southern Jutland Elite Speedway is the name of the professional superstructure that will run the league team. There will still be close cooperation with Vojens Speedway Club, and a direct synergy for the club's teams in the 1st and 2nd Division and the youth-series, says director Jacob Olsen.
It is his company, Speed1Way, who is responsible for the financial investment, which is the requirement of Denmark's Motor Union in order to participate in the Metal Speedway League.
SES - Southern Jutland Elite Speedway announced a month ago, that former Danish champion and double team World champion Hans Andersen becomes captain. Contracts has also been signed with Anders Thomsen, Marcus Birkemose, Jonas Knudsen and Mads Hansen.
Team leader becomes Ib Pedersen with Claus Orts as assistant.
- We are still working on one more A-rider more, but can now announce that we have signed an agreement with the two Germans Kai Huckenbeck and Norick Blödorn and the Swedish Anton Karlsson, says Jacob Olsen.
