This weekend, the Danish Motor Union named Volunteer of the Year in the speedway sport, and not unexpectedly it was Ib Christiansen from Vojens Speedway Klub who ran with the honor.
Many in the Danish speedway community know Ib Christiansen in the role of event leader when SES - Sønderjylland Elite Speedway runs matches at Vojens Speedway Center, but Ib Christiansen has many other functions, in his tireless work for Danish speedway.
The Volunteer of the Year setting states:
Ib Christiansen is a board member of Vojens Speedway Klub. He is happy to take on many different tasks, from contact with club members, to administrative and practical tasks around the races. His approach to the tasks is always positive and serious. Among other things, he has been the competition leader at all Sønderjylland Elite Speedways league races in Vojens. The task involves, among other things, contact with and coordination of the many sports officials who participate in the various races.
Ib also plans and runs the Fritte Cup, and he also works as a judge and technical assistant at various races in various branches of motorsport. When Ib is on holiday, he likes to spend several of his holidays at Vojens Speedway Center for preparation before the big races.
Ib's hard work, enthusiasm and love of the speedway sport are impressive.
